3rd MRes Milestone Presentation Conference: HDR Candidates move forward in their research journey

On 18 June 2025, Higher Education Leadership Institute (HELI) successfully ran its 3rd Master of Research (MRes) Milestone Presentation Conference. This Conference was both an excellent skills development exercise and important test for the Institute’s Higher Degree Research (HDR) Candidates, particularly for those who are close to submitting their theses.

Panel Members Professor Gary Day, Dr Ahmad Kaleem, Professor Mary Cruickshank, Dr Fizza Sabir, Associate Professor Ahmad Saedisomeolia and Dr Parvesh Saini were very thorough with their questions and evaluations, ensuring that the HDR Candidates are indeed ready for the next stages of their research projects. Research Supervisors Dr John Read, Dr Rakesh Khanal (virtual), Dr Mohamed Khalifa (virtual) and Dr Jahangir Alam among others were also present to provide the HDR Candidates support as well as offer constructive feedback.

Best Presentation Awards

After a full day of over 20 research project presentations, three HDR Candidates emerged the best in terms of research clarity and overall presentation delivery. Congratulations to the awardees!

  • Ridwanul Banna (Winner, Milestone One), ‘A Systematic Review on the Impact of Combination Therapy with SGLT2 Inhibitors and RAAS Inhibitors on Cardiovascular Events and Kidney Function in Adults with Chronic Kidney Disease and Cardiovascular Disease’

  • Bhoomika Mehra (Winner, Milestone Two)‘The Role of Information Technology in Aged and Non-Acute Care in Australia: An Umbrella Review’

    Research Supervisors: Dr Mohamed Khalifa and Dr Jahangir Alam

  • Nidhi Walia (Winner, Milestone Two), ‘Role of HR in Enhancing Employee Well-being Across Different Work Arrangements: Office, Hybrid, and Fully Remote Settings’

    Research Supervisors: Dr Fizza Sabir and Dr Mohamed Khalifa

With projects covering a wide range of research areas including but not limited to Business, Education, Artificial Intelligence, Health, Society & Culture and Environment, MRes students continue to demonstrate their growing research capabilities and strengths.

The Institute thanks its Academic Staff and all the Research Supervisors who are tirelessly guiding the HDR Candidates along their higher degree research journey. Immense gratitude also goes to the Learning and Support Team and the Library Team who are always ready to assist students, and of course to staff members from the Student Services Team, Operations Team and IT Services Team who greatly contribute to the overall success of these Conferences.
